About Me

Working together as a team we strive to create the best personal statement possible, to give you an advantage over other applicants to Nursing School.

I am an experienced professional who has read and edited hundreds of  Personal Statements and Statements of Purpose in the area of Nursing.

Most editing services only focus on the technical aspects of the statements: grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Instead, I consider the more important aspects; personal tone, flow, and content. Most importantly, I help you express your creative ideas concerning your long term goals and your contribution to humanity, society, and your local community.

The final product of my editing may be the beginning of your professional success, a solid investment in your future. Many of my clients have written to me to let me know that they had been accepted to an advanced education program in Nursing to thank me for helping with their statement. I believe that my work often helps to achieve the desired result because I draft/edit statements that contain the requisite elements of community spirit and personal character, on the one hand, and the celebration of diversity on the other. This serves to provide an edge to many successful applicants, helping them to stand out from their closest competitors.

The anonymous examples posted on my site are several years old and are the personal statements of people originally from all over the world, in keeping with the international spirit of Nursing School. When faced with many more applicants than space available, with many applicants having more-or-less similar grades and examination scores, the Personal Statement, Statement of Purpose, or Letter of Intent is the only basis upon which to make the decision of who will be accepted.

Anonymous Samples of My Work

The samples posted on this web site are anonymous and always more than two years old at the time of posting.

Most of my clients are people for whom English is a second language. Almost all are multilingual and many have extensive experience from outside the United States. Many are already nurses who have completed their training and already practiced in their country of origin; and now they are applying to advanced degree and certificate programs in America, Canada, England and Australia. Many of my clients share an interest in serving the desperate needs of the underserved, societies’ most vulnerable sectors, particularly in the Global South. If you want your Goal Statement, Personal Statement, Statement of Purpose, or Letter of Intent to be successful, you have to write it in such a way as to make those in charge of the selection process curious about you and to look forward to meeting you. You need to portray yourself in your statement as the kind of person that they want to have in their program. I am a practiced master at drafting your story in the best, most eloquent fashion possible, in the way that is most appealing to those who make the selection. .

I am convinced that one’s ethnicity, language skills, and multicultural experiences need to be woven together in a most eloquent fashion in your Personal Statement, as interconnected themes that radiate throughout your admission essay. Your ethnic or racial background and international aptitudes are your greatest assets as an applicant, and they need to be carefully related to both your short and long term goals. I do everything that I can to make your Personal Statement of Statement of Purpose as effective as possible. After a careful review of your material, I often ask you highly specific questions born from my many years of experience writing and editing nursing statements. I am a seasoned expert concerning what is important to include, and what is not. I have also had a great deal of practice at condensing a lot of material onto two to three double-spaced pages.

Often, I contribute creative ideas that help to make your case for admission much more powerful. Despite the nursing shortage, nursing school remains highly competitive, particularly CRNA programs. It is not enough to suggest that you are hoping to contribute to the diversity of the program; you must demonstrate in especially creative ways how your own unique combination of high motivation and multicultural background makes you uniquely suited to dentistry and that you have enormous potential for contributing to meeting the needs of the planet’s underserved populations.  I have been drafting statements on behalf of nurses now for nearly a quarter of a century. Writing statements is not always fun, and the older I get the more mental and emotional energy it takes for me to do a great job. This is one of the reasons why I have developed a priority focus on nurses, because I admire the dedication of nurses, their orientation of service and giving. Nurses are generally among the finest people on the planet, on human and emotional levels, because of their ethic of service. Thus, when I help a nurse succeed, I am inspired by their story.

The family nurse practitioner’s role is crucial in meeting the healthcare needs of individuals and populations. Family nurse practitioners are trained to provide primary care, catering to medically stable patients in various settings. Their primary focus is on comprehensive healthcare, encompassing health promotion, preventative care, and early detection of conditions like cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure. By establishing ongoing relationships with patients from birth to end-of-life, family nurse practitioners offer comprehensive care throughout the lifespan.

Clinical experiences for family nurse practitioner students are diverse, with placements in over 400 partner clinical sites across the region. These may include family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatric primary care, and specialty practices like cardiology, gastroenterology, and dermatology. Such varied rotations allow students to gain concentrated experience in managing different health conditions encountered in primary care.

The educational program also integrates virtual learning opportunities like telehealth simulation activities. Through video conferences, students engage in simulated clinical scenarios, interacting with standardized patients or mannequins. They practice clinical reasoning, history-taking, physical examinations, formulating differential diagnoses, and evidence-based treatment planning. This hands-on approach bridges the gap between classroom learning and practical application.

Family nurse practitioner students undertake a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project as part of the curriculum. This project enables them to evaluate healthcare organizations, promote system-level improvements, and implement evidence-based interventions within clinical enterprises. It prepares them to make positive changes on a broader scale beyond individual patient care.

The School of Nursing also offers a Global Health Distinction program, encouraging cultural competency and experiential learning. Students have the opportunity to engage in international trips, providing care to diverse patient populations. Additionally, local cultural events and the San Antonio Refugee Health Clinic offer avenues for students to gain practical experience, expand their worldview, and actively contribute to promoting health as an act of social justice.

The Health Science Center’s advantage further enriches the educational experience. Collaborating with other health professional colleagues, students benefit from guest speakers and interprofessional education activities. This interprofessional approach fosters teamwork, vital for effective patient care delivery across disciplines.

To succeed in the program, students must possess an ardent desire for continuous learning, take ownership of their educational journey, and maintain a flexible schedule. Balancing work commitments and studies may require adjusting employment hours. Resolute mentors at the School of Nursing, who are actively engaged in teaching, research, and clinical practice, provide guidance and support throughout the program.

Job prospects for nurse practitioners are currently promising. Over the past two decades, the number of nurse practitioners in the country has significantly increased, leading to rising wages. Graduates are finding employment in urban areas, particularly in specialty areas like internal medicine and geriatrics. There is also a high demand for family nurse practitioners in rural areas, where they play a vital role in delivering comprehensive care across the lifespan.

In conclusion, the need for family nurse practitioners stems from their ability to provide primary care, establish long-term relationships with patients, and promote comprehensive healthcare. Family nurse practitioner programs equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their careers through diverse clinical experiences, virtual learning opportunities, research projects, interprofessional collaboration, and global health engagement.
